Why develop this app?
At first, I searched the App Store and found many pet tracking apps—around 14 in total. I noticed each app had its pros and cons, but after using them for a while, I found some annoying pain points, like too many ads...
That’s when I started thinking, why not just make one myself? So I discussed it with my boyfriend, and we agreed it was technically feasible. That’s how this app came to life...

Having used more than ten pet tracking apps myself, and also being a cat owner of two, I started brainstorming on the iPad using the Freeform app...
I began designing the app’s features, workflow, interface, and more.
On the iPad, I first wrote down a few features I wanted, along with some rough and simple interface sketches. After having these basic drafts, I started designing each screen in Figma and refined the user flow.
Once the flow for each feature was smooth and all the screens were completed, I began adding detailed descriptions and specifications to the designs.

This app was originally developed just for my own use. However, I thought that if I released it on the App Store, it could also help other cat owners, which would be a great thing!
So I started preparing for the launch. Since the app was initially made for myself, many copyrighted illustrations and icons inside the app had to be redesign.
After removing those, I couldn’t find suitable images to put in the app during that period...
(In the video, the original theme color was dark purple, which made it hard to match with images.)
In February 2024, I started redesigning the app with a new theme featuring a white background and gray accents — which is the current version!

To match the new theme, I initially asked my boyfriend’s colleague to help with the art, but the style didn’t quite fit. So, I ended up teaching myself how to create illustrations and GIFs using Procreate!

I can only say that creating this app was a journey full of ups and downs, but I unlocked so many new skills along the way!
I’m really glad I spent time on this—it has been such a rewarding experience!
Check out the final version!
